Laura Jacke

Founder

Founder and Lexi’s biggest fan. Lexi Gives Back sprung into existence during my time in lockdown in the remote, quaint town Paternoster on the West Coast. Seven months of seeing South Africa struggling through the lockdown left me with a heavy heart and an impulse to help. Feeding a handful of hungry dogs soon turned into sterilization drives, vaccination initiatives and so much more.

My little Lexi never lets me forget how circumstances can change through chance encounters and how important it is to act where you feel you are needed, to seize opportunities for holistic social welfare and to do so with heart and soul (as well as- admittedly- sweat and tears here and there).

Lexi Gives Back has been in honor of the incredible friendship Lexi has gifted me- she is my companion through thick and thin and inspires others to see that potential in the many helpless street dogs that share her rough beginnings. Developing this organization to what it is has been an incredibly fulfilling chapter in my life.

I hope my work will continue for many years to come, thank you to everyone that has supported me and my project.

Tannie Margaret

Coordinator

Margaret is known as Auntie Margaret in our little town. You can ask anyone if they know Tannie Margaret and they are guaranteed to say yes. She has worked on behalf of abused and neglected animals all her life and has spent 12 years dedicating herself to bettering the lives of our Paternoster Pooches. She is now an integral part of Lexi Gives Back and our leader on the ground. Margaret is always a phone call away for a dog or cat in need.

Margaret runs our monthly sterilization days and helps out around town every day of the week. From tragic accidents to missing inoculations, she’s our person.

Thank you Margaret for being our volunteer and working so tirelessly to improve the lives of our animals.

Alex

Volunteer

The community know him as ‘Rasta’- Alex is a friend, neighbor and role model. Alex lives in one of Paternoster’s townships and is our eyes and ears. He is the first to learn of new litters, tragic accidents or cases of neglect. Alex and Tannie Margaret have worked side by side for 18 years, they are an incredible team and the community knows and trusts them. Alex has certified himself to administer inoculations and is an expert in handling difficult four legged patients. Alex is immensely knowledgeable about typical ‘township illnesses’ that plague a lot of our dogs and cats. With years of experience under his belt he is an invaluable member of our team.

Thank you Alex for your commitment and loyalty. No task is too big for Alex. Day or night, he will be there.
